Stalk Me (The Keatyn Chronicles series Book 1) Kindle Edition
Gossip Girl meets 90210 in this breathless romance series filled with swoon-worthy characters and suspense set in a glittering celebrity world.
Keatyn’s life is like a movie.
It’s following the script she wrote for the perfect high school experience. She goes to the best parties, dates the hottest guy, and sits at the most coveted lunch table.
But really, things aren’t all that perfect.
Her boyfriend gets drunk at every party, and her best friend is threatening to tell everyone her relationship is a sham. Deep down, she isn’t sure if she has any true friends.
Except for Brooklyn—her surfing buddy and longtime crush.
He understands both sides of her.
The popular girl.
The surfer girl.
Even though her friends say it can’t be done, Keatyn decides to write a new script for her life. One where she stays popular and dates the surfer boy who has her heart.
But Keatyn’s life is interrupted when a threatening note is found in her little sister’s backpack from a stalker obsessed with her movie-star mom. And when he gets dangerously close to Keatyn, it won’t matter who she is or what she’s scripted.
Because popular girl or surfer girl, the pretty girlalways ends up dead.
At least, they do in the movies.

Hot tamales! I am trying to think back to the last time I encountered a book with soo many boys qualified for Swoonville residency and, well, I can't think of one because I have not come across another book that took male hotness to THIS level. I usually have a clear favorite, you know, the guy I want the heroine to end up with and spend forever with. I did in this one too but then it changed and then it changed again and now I actually play for two teams...We will get to that later:)
The story is fast paced and things are always changing and evolving. Ms. Dodd would give me a chair to sit in and I would be sitting pretty comfortably and then BAM, seat is taken from under me. I would then find another chair to sit in only to find myself on my rear end again! Stalk Me had me smiling, laughing, shedding tears and even left me breathless in a couple of scenes (thank to those teenage boys!).
I had to remember that Keatyn is a teenage girl when reading this. She has the attention span of a teenage girl, the interests of a teenage girl and the standards of a teenage girl. As an adult, it was easy for me to say, did she really just do that?! But then I had to bring myself back to my teenage years and it all felt very real (besides the movie star parents and designer clothes). She has the emotions of a teenage girl; it is easy for her to cry, easy for her to get catty and easy for her to fall for a guy. I found her to also be very strong when I consider some of the things she has to go through during the book and she didn't have the ultra whiny personality that some teenage girls have in YA books. I loved the way she was with her family; it showed her warm, caring side. She is popular but not too shallow. Overall, I found her to be a very likable girl!
So this would be the part I would love to tell you about hero but that is a little difficult in this book so I am going to give you short impressions of "the boys" below.
Sander - Oh My Gosh, these high school kids are kind of blind! I like you but I had your number from page 2 or 3. You are sweet, sexy and would make a great best friend. (Most of you will pick up on this too!)
Brooklyn - I was hot and cold when it came to you. You were a little moody and I didn't know what to make of you half the time. I don't think you are "the one".
Daemon - I like Daemon and he is a great friend to Keatyn, I just haven't seen enough of him to determine what I think about him yet. He is in a band and that always gets points with me.
Cush - You may be a player but you can come play on my team whenever you want. He is super sweet and takes Keatyn for who she is and doesn't try to change her. He also doesn't care too much about being in the popular crowd and he seems to adore Keatyn. LOVES HIM!
Riley and Dallas - I am still getting to know you and I think you could both be great friends with Keatyn. I think you are both witty and add some comic relief to this book!
Aiden - I didn't want anyone to come into Cush territory! I wanted all boys to STAY AWAY but you worked your way into my heart in the little bit of time that I have known you. Feel free to bring me a lunch anytime;)
So right now, I am Team Cush and Team Aiden. My chemistry meteor was going wild when she was with both but I think it is anyones game at this point. I think I am leaning a little bit more toward Cush but with five more books to go, anything can happen! Oh, and there is always the possibility of more boys coming our way.
I love a book that can keep me on my toes and I was definitely on my toes for most of this. There is so much I would like to say but I don't want to ruin this for those who have not read it. I will say that it is one heck of a ride. I was actually kind of upset with Miss Dodd because of the situation Keatyn finds herself in about three-fourths of the way in but somehow, she completely swept me off my feet and made it alright. I cannot wait for Kiss Me in December. Can it just be December now??? I need to know where this is going!
I started reading this book without knowing what it was really about. I was immediately brought back to high school drama so vividly I found myself looking around every so often to make sure I really was still a grown up. Jillian Dodd is sensational and shows us everything she's got in this first installment of the six book series. She has this incredibly enticing way of writing as if you're residing within the main character's mind.... you're actually living the life of a 16/17 year old girl and experiencing all the drama that entails! You truly FEEL like you are undergoing her life through her eyes and mind.....never as a bystander getting a small glimpse in.
Keatyn, the main character, comes to life as a witty, quirky, sexy and fun girl living her life out among the kids of Hollywood stars. There is typical high school drama, hysterical moments of Keatyn, lots of love and kissing, moments of clarity and some really creepy behavior. I literally was laughing out loud at the things Keatyn thinks and says...she's all over the place (driving you CRAZY at times); in love with one boy one moment, another the next, having fights with her friends, retaliating, feeling guilty, shallow one moment then acting with adult integrity the next. Basically, a typical teenage girl you can't help but adore. While she may come across as very immature, she is trying to find herself while facing very adult situations and decisions at every turn.
There is a very large and extremely diverse cast of characters here. I am amazed at the skill it took to take so many characters and not leave even one lacking in depth and back story. The character development throughout the book is astounding and constantly evolving right into the next installment.
The boys are all hot and so much fun! You can actually feel the fire and sizzle oozing off these characters. Each one is very different from the others and plays their own distinctive role in her life. I dare you not to fall in love with at least one of them...and then quickly change your mind. Keatyn quickly introduces us to her inner circle; the boys, the mean girls, Hollywood A-listers and a family to die for. I have to say this, I just adore her step-father Tommy. He's such a fantastic and diverse character! It's literally like Lindsay Lohan and her Mean Girl entourage meets the boys from 90210 with some hot surfers thrown in.
Little details, such as chapter titles which are quirky, fun and witty leave you turning page after page as fast as you can. I truly couldn't drag myself away from Keatyns life. It's so incredibly passionate, I felt like an addict reading as quickly as I possibly could! I knew all these characters when I was in high school myself, went through a lot of these experiences as well, but somehow Keatyn does it with so much more glamour, glitz and free spiritedness. She made me miss high school......almost.
The story itself is filled with lots of plot twists and entraps you on an emotional roller-coaster the whole ride. It's not at all predictable and has a perfect balance between hysterical moments and scenes with incredible depth. You're seeing this as a teenager with a Hollywood lifestyle, but realize quickly that she faces all the same challenges as any other girl her age. No one is who they seem to be which compounds the fact that Keatyn herself is trying to figure out who she is and who she wants to be.
The ending is very abrupt, truly ending mid-scene-but it's a GREAT touch by the author. The second book, Kiss Me, picks up from exactly that spot so it's a great set-up that leaves you feeling totally compelled to dive into the next book.
Fantastic read....fabulous characters.....incredible character development....sensational writing! It doesn't get much more fun than this read....and it's steamy too-did I mention that?

"I smile at the boy who stole my heart the day I met him. He's eighteen, has shaggy blond hair and eyes
the color of the ocean. He's tan, almost six feet, and kinda thin, but he has the strong core of a surfer.
As in abs to freaking die for.
Drool over."
"So you're cool with breaking up?"
"We're gonna stay friends, right?"
"I hope so."
"Good. You know what I thought? I've never had a role where I got my heard broken. [...] Do you mind, if I use our breakup as practice? Like I'll act devastated at school. I'll be all dreary and full of angst. I'm going to have to dye my hair for the role. Maybe I should do it now. People at school will be shocked."

I had read raving reviews about this book before purchasing it and couldn't wait to get stuck in and boy, I was not disappointed! So much happens throughout the book I was completely glued and just couldn't put it down!
The book is full of hotties and Keatyn seem's to have them flocking at her - she is one luckily girly (well, apart from the whole stalker bit - she's not quite so lucky there!) The only thing I was slightly disappointed with was the ending...it just seemed to stop? I guess it has the desired effect though as I'm now counting down the days until the next book comes out in December, especially after reading a snippet of what's to come in book 2 :)
I had never read anything by Jillian Dodd before but I was that much of a fan I have just purchased `That Boy' and I'm desperately hoping it's as good as everyone keeps saying?
I really can't recommend this book highly enough - it's a must read and I'm pretty certain this is going to be an amazing series :)
