Sameer Ketkar received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Screenwriting from the University of Southern California, and has written one feature film, the thriller "Backwaters." He has written dozens of unproduced screenplays and TV pilots, and has written and directed numerous short films and commercials.

In 2011, Mr. Ketkar began publishing novels. His first book, "Entanglement," was about two star-crossed lovers who couldn't seem to disentangle themselves from one another. His second novel, "BODIES: Book #1: Staged Fright," was released in 2013 and was a thriller dramedy with a menage-a-twist. His third novel, "Victory Blvd.," released in 2014, was an action-thriller with a hefty dose of comedy. His fourth novel, also released in 2014, was entitled "God's Glass" and was a hard-hitting biographical drama. His fifth novel, "Simple Tricks and Nonsense," was released in 2016 and was a scathing satirical takedown of organized religion. He released a children's story in early 2017, called "A World in a Dew Drop."

He is currently working on a novel about the historical king Charlemagne, as well as a sequel to "BODIES: Book #1: Staged Fright." Mr. Ketkar likes to play guitar and draw pictures in his free time.

When author Sameer Ketkar offered his book free for two days through Goodreads.com, I read the description and said sure, why not. And happily, it was a good decision. The plot moves along quickly and held my attention throughout. Since it's short - just 132 pages - I finished it up quickly despite a pre-Thanksgiving lack of spare time. I will say, though, that 132 pages isn't quite as short as it sounds; at least on my Kindle, the type was noticeably smaller than most of the other books I download, which would add a few pages to the total.

The story involves bioterrorism and the Callahan family of geniuses - well, except perhaps for one son, who narrates the story. Apparently, when the IQ numbers were being handed out to the family he got short shrift, although he doesn't seem to be seriously lacking in the brains department. When a rotting corpse in a swanky hotel turns out to be infused with a highly contagious strain of something unknown, the parents head up the crisis response team trying to identify (and thus find an antidote for) what ailed the body before it turns into an epidemic of major proportions. All three of their children - a daughter and another son who's more than a little quirky - get involved to one extent or another, as do others at the hoity-toity school for the gifted all three kids attend. Add in the fact that the parents are sexoholics supposedly in recovery, and there's plenty of fodder for kinks and twists.

Everything manages to get resolved - well, almost. This is, by the author's own admission, the first in a series; no word as of this writing when Book #2 will be released, but suffice it to say there's a need. So if you're a person who must have every single detail neatened and tidied at the end, this might not be the book for you. As for me, I'm looking forward to the next installment. I've got my suspicions as to where things are headed, but I'm not telling!

Having a Homeland Security agent as a member of the family doesn't sound like such a bad thing. However, the mother and the father are already firmly in place. Adding Agent Corban Banks seems de trop. Not to mention icky for the band of teenage children.

Talented Sameer Ketkar, author of Victory Blvd, an exciting, action-packed short thriller, offers BODIES: Book #1: Staged Fright - A Mystery-Suspense Thriller. The zany mystery careens through incredible twists and turns, with fun characters and exciting situations throughout the wild ride.

'Bodies' was a book with a good premise. The reason I only gave it 3 stars was due to the fact many statements or sayings was repeated over and over. I got confused a couple times while situations or explanations were beyond my understanding. That's not to say the author did a terrible job explaining some things, it's just confusing to me. I thought the facts were researched to a detailed level, but then again, I doubt I'd know the difference. The overall storyline was good. The characters were described really good and they all played an influential part. I would like to read Book #2 in this series. All in all, a good book.

While this book has interesting characters, well developed, the plot line is completely unrealistic. More importantly, this book is a teaser, resolving very little in the reader's mind and is a cheap ploy to get you to purchase the next of the series.
IMHO, there are far too many good books available to waste time with this author.

Fun, entertaining, and different. That pretty much sums it up. I was amazed at how light and humorous this book was in spite of the plot. The plot seemed very dark, and it was - there was a body discovered that was infected with a deadly disease. The people who found the body were quarantined, and there was a terrorism connection, which made this all the more terrifying. But the main characters were so quirky; the husband and wife who work for the CDC, their three teen-aged children, and the Homeland Security agent (who ended up in a threesome with the husband and wife). They were definitely an odd bunch, and it was fun getting to know them. The family was also super rich. I'm not particularly fond of reading about rich people since I find them to be very hard to relate to, but they didn't seem snobby or pompous. And they were all geniuses - except for the youngest son. The story was told through his point of view (sort of), and I really did feel for him. He was a smart kid, but everyone around him was smarter and always one step ahead of him. He even went to a private school full of geniuses. Yikes, that would seriously hurt a young kid's self-esteem.

The story was engaging, and I kept wanting to read more so I could find out what was going to happen. It was interesting to see how everything tied together. I was also curious to see how this threesome would develop! The author uses a casual writing style, so it was an easy (and quick) read.

I highly recommend this book, and I'm looking forward to the continuation of the series!

5.0 out of 5 stars Roll on Book 2!!!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 24, 2013
Be warned, once you have read this book you will want to know what happens next. This book is very different from any of the thrillers that I have read before because it contains so many different and in a couple of cases unique elements. This book revolves around CSI, homeland security and the various relationships you'll find inside. It's a gritty, hard hitting book that you will not want to put down once you start. I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars fast paced

Ketkar's fast paced book is full of surprises throughout. I assume he has pathology background which makes for interested pathogens to scare any reader. The point of view is a son of the husband and wife pathologists who sees everyone as brighter than him. He's always late with the jokes but he proves a different worth in the end. And his parents are sex addicts which gives some light relief.

This book is a fast-paced mystery action story which is packed with excitement and a murder mystery which keeps the reader gripped from beginning to end.

There is something in this tale for everyone, from teenagers trying to help solve the mystery, to the murder itself and to a couple exploring the problems which exist within their marriage. It even manages to bring in terrorism and contagious diseases.

This really reminded me of a good Saturday evening thriller on the television and would make a great holiday read.

I struggled a bit with this book only in the fact that I did not get some of the American language used in it. The story did not flow easily to me but I kept going until the end. I liked the concept of the idea behind it but sadly did not enjoy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Unique Thriller - Utterly Riveting!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 24, 2013
Really enjoyed this unusual and compelling drama. The storyline is completely original, weaving seamlessly between commentary and narrative. As if the bio-terrorism plot-line wasn't compelling enough, the family histrionics and the edgy sexual complications add extra layers to the whole thing. Very tightly written, a real page-turner. Can't wait for the sequel. Highly recommended.
