Breathless X (Blue Fire Saga Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 20 ratings

BREATHLESS X is an "adult" version of Breathless, book 1 in the paranormal romance series The Blue Fire Saga. It contains slightly more graphic violence and more explicit and intimate sexual activity.
Weston College freshman Leesa Nyland has been fascinated by vampires since she was three years old. That's when her mom started acting weird, insisting sunlight hurt her skin because she'd been bitten by a one-fanged vampire.
But fascinated doesn't mean Leesa believes. Any more than she believes in blue fire, people who live for centuries, and kisses that can kill. But when her beloved older brother suddenly disappears, she is forced to consider all these and more. She also has to figure out what to do about her mysterious new boyfriend. She knows Rave likes her a lot--so why won't he kiss her?
As Leesa draws closer to finding her brother, she faces some gut-wrenching decisions. Should she risk her mom's life trying to "cure" her? Should she continue seeing Rave, after he reveals his dangerous secret? And most terrifying of all, should she make the ultimate sacrifice-give up her humanity-to save her brother?

Whether you are new to the Blue Fire Saga or (like me) have read all of the Saga and companion pieces, Breathless X is a book that's hard to put down. True, it's Breathless with steamier scenes, but it's more than that.

If Scott wasn't a talented writer, we could have found ourselves reading the original version with a couple of scenes similar to Blue Fire Heat thrown in here and there creating a choppy read. However, Scott found the proper spots to turn the heat up and made small tweaks to keep the story line flowing. The most important tweak was by editing Leesa's inner thoughts and making her seem more mature. My favorite addition to Breathless X are Leesa's dreams.

If you're wondering if it's worth re-reading the story just for the adult content, I'd encourage you. I found that every time my attention started to wander, I noticed a change in this version which reinvigorated me.

And if this is your first book of the Saga, I challenge you to continue with your journey and figure out why I thought the dreams added to the story. :-)

Let me say right off, I was not into the raging Vampire scene of late. I went through my years of reading horror and thrillers but when thinking about adding Vampires and the supernatural to romance, it never seemed to make any sense to me. Well, I take it all back! I LOVE this book and have already bought the rest of the series and the companion books too. Scott brings so much thought and emotion to his characters that it might surprise you, seeing that he's a man and usually this type of book is written by females. It's an amazing love story that keeps you on your toes the entire book. You'll laugh and cry and feel like you're right there watching the whole thing take place right in front of you. Great book, great author and you won't be disappointed!!

I read the original first and purchased this afterwards thinking it would be more adult-oriented. It did have a few extra scenes, but not enough to make sense to be a whole separate book.

I got the original Breathless book as a freebie on Amazon, by the 3rd chapter I stopped and bought all the books in this series and I have not been disappointed with any of them. I was worried that the sweet innocence of Leesa's and Rave's relationship would be lost in this book but Mr. Prussing proved what an amazing author he is. He gave his readers a more "adult" version of Breathless without completely losing that innocence that made us fall in love with them in the first place.

In my opinion you can not go wrong with any of Mr. Prussing books.

Even though this is the more adult version of the book, it is still pretty mild compared to some of the other books out there. Kept my attention. Enjoyed the characters and will be reading the rest of the series. First book in this series was free...Breathless. You have nothing to loose so why not give it a read. Great storyline.

Best read since Twilight series, captivated me. Want to read more. 4/5 Some wrongly spelled words and holly-wood ending. Doesn't change the fact that I still want to read more. ;)
