There's nowhere better to spend the holidays than with New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery in the town of Fool's Gold, where love is always waiting to be unwrapped…

Noelle Perkins just got a second chance at life, and she intends to make the most of every minute. That's why she ditched a frustrating legal career to open her own store in Fool's Gold, California. The Christmas Attic celebrates everything that's magical about her favorite season. Business is booming, and as a bonus, gorgeous army doctor Gabriel Boylan has offered to help out during the holiday rush.

Gabriel's memories of Christmas past contain more sour grapes than sugar plums, thanks to a drill sergeant father who ran his home like a boot camp. Spending the holidays with his family while he recuperates from injury sounds as appetizing as last year's eggnog. Still, there are some enjoyable distractions in town, including sunny, sexy Noelle…and the red-hot mistletoe kisses they can't stop sharing.

Gabriel didn't think he was made for happily-ever-afters. But when fate hands you a love as sweet and surprising as this, only a fool could refuse….

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Mallery's second Christmas novel set in the small eastern California town of Fool's Gold (after 2012's A Fool's Gold Christmas) pairs up Dr. Gabriel Boylan, an Army physician with tours of Iraq and Afghanistan under his belt, and Noelle Perkins, a lawyer turned Christmas store owner who has suffered tragedies of her own. Having seen countless catastrophes—including the death of someone very close to him—Gabriel is loath to give his heart, no matter how appealing the tall blonde might be. Noelle has chosen the opposite path: she is going to live every single day to the fullest, no matter what. After being stuck in a snowstorm together, Noelle knows what she wants from Gabriel, but she's not going to settle for anything less than mutual true love. Fans of the Fool's Gold series will enjoy this Christmas interlude. (Oct.)

Susan Mallery is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of books about the relationships that define women's lives—romance, friendship, family. With compassion and humor, Susan keenly observes how people think and feel, in stories that take readers on an emotional journey. Sometimes heartbreaking, often funny, and always uplifting, Susan's books have spent more than 200 weeks on the USA Today bestsellers list, thanks to her ever growing legions of fans.

Critics, too, have heaped praise on "the new queen of romantic fiction." (Walmart) Booklist says, "Romance novels don't get much better than Mallery's expert blend of emotional nuance, humor, and superb storytelling," and RT Book Reviews puts her "in a class by herself!"

Although Susan majored in Accounting, she never worked as an accountant because she was published straight out of college with two books the same month. Sixteen prolific years and seventy-four books later, she hit the New York Times bestsellers list for the first time with Accidentally Yours in 2008. She made many appearances in the Top 10 before (finally) hitting #1 in 2015 with Thrill Me, the twentieth book in her popular series, the Fool's Gold romances, and the fourth of five books released that year.

Susan lives in Seattle with her husband, a ragdoll cat, and a small poodle with delusions of grandeur. Her heart for animals has led Susan to become an active supporter of the Seattle Humane Society. Animals play a big role in her books, as well, as she believes they're an integral component to a happy life. Visit Susan online at www.SusanMallery.com.

I will admit, up front, that I am a Susan Mallery/Fool's Gold addict. There. I said it. I just finished Christmas on 4th Street and once again, Ms. Mallery knocked it out of the park.

I keep waiting for a new book in this series to disappoint but that has yet to happen. Ms. Mallery always manages to keep each story fresh and exciting. The only part that she reuses consistently is Jo's margaritas and they fit in each and every story line. I collect holiday stories and this one is not just using Christmas as background- the holiday season plays a big part. I truly loved this story.

I enjoy snarkiness. I enjoy humor. This particular book? I started laughing on page 1 and laughed hard and often. Noelle was a strong character, who had issues - yes - but never turned whiney or silly. And Gabriel? I enjoyed reading about him growing and moving on in his life. His dad? HIM I wanted to smack upside the head.

To say again: I am a Susan Mallery fan (have read all her books) and a Fool's Gold addict. Christmas on 4th Street was a great read and one that I will reread over and over again. I highly recommend this book.

‘Christmas on 4th Street’ was my first foray into Fool’s Gold, I’ve got the series on my TBR list but haven’t gotten around to reading any yet, but I saw this one was on sale for $1.99 and being that it’s the holiday season I was looking for a light, feel good story and this one fit the bill quite nicely! The town and community of Fool’s Gold is definitely something! It’s a little over the top, but I like that the residents seem to know that and realize that what they have there in town is not common, I think that added a great deal to its charm. It’s the perfect setting for a Christmas story though, with the tight knit community, the parades (with an elephant wearing a Santa suit!) and festivals, it’s a very magical backdrop for this cute love story.

I liked Noelle, she was a survivor with a big heart. She came to Fool’s Gold looking for a new start after overcoming life threatening illness and she’s really found her niche with her Christmas store. I loved how attentive she was to her customers and made each one feel special. I also liked how tight she was with her friends and how open and honest she was with basically everyone. Her first meeting with Gabriel was pretty funny and I liked seeing their friendship and then more develop between them. Gabriel had several issues stemming from his upbringing and his time serving as a trauma doctor in the Army and because of some of the stuff he’s seen and been through in the Army he is very hesitant to open his heart again. But of course there’s just something about Noelle that he can’t shake and I liked watching his defenses fall. There were some ups and downs but overall this one was easy on the heart and I really enjoyed it. Things happened pretty quickly at the end, but hey it’s Fool’s Gold at Christmastime, so to them it probably didn’t seem too far-fetched!

I am going to have to go and read some of the other books in the series because there were some characters that were from other books and I’d love to go back and read their stories, like Felicia and Gideon. She was pretty intense and seems so opposite of Gideon, so I’m curious to see how their story played out!

I also read the bonus novella ‘Yours for Christmas’ at the end featuring Bailey and Kenny, from what I understand there’s been some chemistry brewing between these two for a little while, I’ll be interested to go back to some of the previous books to read about that. But I thought their story was cute too. Of course I’m a sucker for a guy falling for a single mom and her kid(s) and loving the kid(s) as if they were his own. In this book the fact that Bailey was a single mom was a big of a hang up for Kenny because of past experience. And while I could totally understand why he would shy away from single moms after that experience, I found the fact that he wouldn’t even consider trying for something more with Bailey to be a little extreme. I’ve only read these two stories in this series so I don’t know if this is a trend but so far both of the heroes had their individual hang ups and to them it was like a brick wall that stopped the relationship from going any further (at least for much of the story), they weren’t even willing to consider the possibility of something else. I thought that was kind of interesting. In the end I liked where this one went, although again things happened really fast here, being a novella though I wasn’t surprised since there’s only limited time to work with. Plus we got a little peek at Noelle about a year (I think) after her book took place and that was fun to see what’s going on with her.

Overall I enjoyed both stories and they were just what I was looking for and I am looking forward to returning to Fool’s Gold and catching up on the rest of the series.

Christmas on 4th Street is by Susan Mallery. It is a Fool’s Gold novel. The novel is well-written with a well- developed plot and realistic characters.
Noelle Perkins is new to Fool’s Gold. She has opened a shop in town called The Christmas Attic. . She has agrees to check on Felicia’s new puppy. Felicia has helped her get everything organized in the shop and helped her get through the red tape involved in setting up a shop. Felicia was engaged to Gideon Boylan and loved his son Carter as if he were her own. They were in the midst of planning their wedding and having his parents meet her for the first time. The only question was when or if his brother Gabriel would attend. Evidently he did as he was at the house when Noelle arrived.
Gabriel Boylon was a surgeon who had a hand injury and was unable to work and didn’t know if he would ever be able to do so. He had come to Fool’s Gold to attend his brother’s wedding and meet Felicity; but even more so to hide from condolences and the things he had that he might never have again with his hand. He ends up working for Noelle because he could not go back to the hospital and he mistrusted doctors. He also took the job to keep him out of the house and away from his parents for as long as possible.
Why does he want to avoid his family? Why isn’t he more gracious about any help that is given? How can Nicolle cope with him? Can they ever be friends?

La verdad es que compré el libro porque me encantan las historias de Fools Gold y bueno...está entretenido pero no tiene la chispa que otras historias. Sencillamente para ponerte al día de lo que pasa en el pueblo y no perderte las historias paralelas a las principales.
